Trunked radio was introduced 15
years ago to alleviate congestion on large two-way radio systems.
While trunked radio has been an overwhelming success, all trunked
2-way radio systems share a common problem: they are difficult and
expensive to monitor and record using traditional methods. The
traditional way to record is to "de-trunk" the talk groups
and then record each talk group on a dedicated channel of a
multi-channel logging recorder. Hardware must be provided to
capture and then extract each specific talk group ($2000 per talk
group) and then record it, one talk group per channel ($700-$1000 per
recording channel). This method has been used for lack of a
"better way."
Fortunately, that "better
way" has arrived. Swift Computers, Inc. has developed and
patented the technology necessary to record trunked radio in its raw
state and then de-trunk it after recording upon playback. After
years of research and development, Swift Computers, Inc.
is introducing the second generation of its logging recorder for
trunked radio that is so advanced it has been re-named the SwiftSTOR® II Communications
Recovery System .
